Do you believe in luck? Las Vegas showgirl Sherri DiPedi doesn't. But during a bizarre accident, she suffers a head injury and then strange, seemingly supernatural coincidences pile up which lead her to believe that she is the current incarnation of Lady Luck. It couldn't come at a better time, either. She suspects a family friend murdered her father in a move to take over his thriving business. Worse, she's worried that he's soon going to try to eliminate the last person standing in his way - Sherri. But now, with luck on her side, along with the help of a charming cop she's just met, she's hoping to bring this man to justice. Can Sherri keep up with her new responsibilities to light up Las Vegas while she takes down her father's murderer? Is she really charmed, or is she just plain crazy? Make a wish, place your bet, and prepare to see just how powerful Lady Luck can be!

What an adorable book! It was a bit angsty and I was clicking the pages because I just wanted to see how the villians were gonna get what was due to them! I love to love a villian and this one had a bitch and a jerk. Woot!

The whole Lady Luck myth was awesome to read about and it worked great intertwining with my favorite Vegas family. Sherri was a cool girl to read about and I was happy to see a bit of justice headed her way.

I really love Maria and Miguel. I think that they are still my favorite couple so it was a treat to keep reading about them in Lady Luck.
Lady Luck could be read alone but it's just so much better to start at the book one "24/7" and read through to this book. All through the series we have been introduced to the coolest characters. I also love that Susan DiPlacido writes stories where the couples end happy but not necessary with a wedding and an expecting baby. I think that is one of my favorite things. Couples can be hot and sexy and totally in love without a wedding and a baby.

Las Vegas showgirl Sherri DiPedi gets knocked in the head with a neon sign and wakes up as the current incarnation of Lady Luck. Or does she? Is she just crazy? And what about her step father, who may have killed her father to steal his business and marry his wife? Is that all in her head too? Or will she be the next one bumped off?

Inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet, DiPlacido does a great job of weaving all the characters and their plot lines together. People better versed with Hamlet than I am with get all the little nuances that relate to the Shakespeare masterpiece. But you don't need to have just read Hamlet to enjoy this crazy ride.

LADY LUCK is classic, vintage DiPlacido Las Vegas, humor, capers, romance, punchy dialogue, booze, and food. (Surprisingly, it's a bit light on her usual racy sex scenes.) DiPlacido does a good job of switching POVs to keep the action moving, and letting the reader see what is going on concurrently with the various characters. Her writing is very visual, and it's a wonder nobody has snapped up the film rights to any of her novels yet. Are you listening, Hollywood?

Summer's coming. I suggest you pour yourself a drink, go sit by the pool, and dive into LADY LUCK.
This was such a great story! I loved all characters and the whole story line. I recommended it to my mom ad she enjoyed it as well.
I loved the story as a whole. I think the author brought in too many subplots/characters to the story. Some of the parts of the story could have been worked out better. Liked the main characters, but too many other characters brought into story. I had to figure out who they were when they were brought in later in the book (like the truck driver that delivered the coconuts). Would like to read a follow up book with the main characters, that's why I gave the four stars.
I really like the way Susan writes. I like her characters and I like the way the story pulls me along and keeps me from going to sleep at night. I am getting the feeling that there are several books tied together here set in Las Vegas. This is not the first one. I like when authors label the books in a series 1, 2, 3 etc. While this book is complete in itself, for the first few chapters I was a bit lost. Once I got the hang of it I loved it, so I would still recommend it, but more so once I figure out the order.
I am going to read 'house money' next because I think it is the first in the series - not clear from her website.
The author tells us she leaned on Shakespeare's HAMLET for her novel, LADY LUCK. But if you are familiar with Ms. DiPlacido's former work, you know that if this be HAMLET, it's played by the Marx Brothers and it's title could just as easily have been COCONUTS.

So get set for a wild ride through fabulous Las Vegas rocketed by a plot wired with outrageous characters playing out a series of whacky scenes. It's gotta be better than Disney World.

I ask Aristotle, is this tragedy? No way. Is this melodrama. Maybe. Is this comedy. You bet. There are as many characters as you'll find in a Russian novel, except they're all all having fun, except for a couple of villains, and they make Snidely Whiplash look serious.

Imagine. The powers of Lady Luck are magically transferred from the tall and very flashy drag queen, Dinah, to the exotic swimmer, Sherri, when a giant neon sign of a mermaid crashes down on them, its glowing nipple whacking poor Sherri on the head. And that's just the start. For DiPlacido's rare talent is her ability to tell a raucously romantic tale in a voice as natural as your close friend's reciting her latest adventures over a couple of shared piña coladas. And at the same time, she can play around with concepts like Aristotle's Poetics so they seem as familiar as the scorecard from your favorite baseball team's last victory.

Like a Tarantino movie, this novel makes a lot of sly references to those gansta flicks of the past, except here the victim wakes to his truck loaded to the roof with coconuts instead of a horse's severed head in his bed. And nobody in the final epic scene at La Casa Nostra Hotel and Casino can shoot straight. LADY LUCK is a lot of full-throttle fun. But didn't you already know that about playing around in fabulous Las Vegas?American Cool
